Before we had the chance to wish everyone a Happy New Year, Ishikawa Prefecture in Japan was hit by a 7.5 magnitude earthquake and tsunami on January 1st. The natural disaster hit the western coast of Japan, on the Noto Peninsula which is a rural region known for its good food, good sake and famous for many traditional arts and crafts. As the days of New Year’s holidays went on, we began to see all of the physical and emotional damage occurring in Ishikawa.
With the help of our community, Macaron Laboratory is raising awareness and together with the community are facilitating donations to Peace Winds (www.peace-winds.org) Peace Winds, a NGO was very quick to respond to the needs of the victims in the area, by dispatching rescue teams and medical staff. Abby, our baker has made over 500 delicious Matcha Buttercream with Gold Leaf in support of the Noto Peninsula Earthquake. With the support of the community both in Japan and the US, over 400,000 yen in donations have been made to date. We will also be putting together 40 care packages for an orphanage in the region. We will be sending items that they need and also treat bags, in hopes to bring some smiles to the children during this very difficult time. We will continue to find ways to help the victims of the Noto Peninsula Earthquake. Thank you to everyone who has kindly donated to the project. www.peace-winds.org Comments are closed.
